The range of work produced by our artists in residence is vast and wide, anything from a portrait to a local scene or an image of a pop megastar. Many of our artists are still learning their trade and have benefited from joining the group and receiving weekly tuition from Max Kader. Have a look below and see just some of the paintings produced at the market in the last 12 months.
Budding Artists - if you are thinking of taking up a new hobby or would like to seek advice on any aspect of drawing and painting come along to the market and meet Phyllis Hall. Phyllis has been inspired and motivated by her lifetime interest in painting and will be very pleased to offer advice. Meet her and you'll come away enthused ! Phyllis Hall  From a very young age I have been keen on painting and drawing. As a pre-teen I produced a portfolio of work with the encouragement of my school, which resulted in gaining a place at the Harrow School of Art. Unfortunately, when it came to accepting, my parents decreed that I would go out and earn a living!
Once family commitments allowed, I took up the study of Oil Painting at Evening Classes. I paint in a Traditional style, mostly landscapes, seascapes and still life (from flowers to modern technology). Works have included as diverse subjects as bluebells to Concord). I have painted in the style of Constable and learnt a great deal from studying his work closely. I had the honour of winning the Cancer Research Charity art competition. Being one of many entries, I was surprised and delighted. I later learnt that I was the eldest entrant and the only competitor with no formal qualification. Although I have been painting for many years, it is still a thrill to exhibit, sell or gain a commission. I hope most sincerely that my paintings give pleasure and am always keen to take on a new challenge.
